But from October 24, it’ll be possible for any iPhone owner to join Fitness+ – even without an Apple smartwatch.

Apple Fitness+ is a paid-for service, like Apple Music or Apple TV+.

It gets you access to thousands of studio-style workouts and meditations let by proper personal trainers.

They’ll guide you through workouts of different lengths and intensities, while your progress is tracked on-screen via the app.

Normally this uses body-monitoring sensors on the Apple Watch, but iPhone owners can now join in with an estimated calorie burn.

iPhone owners will get access in the upcoming iOS 16.1 update.

This new version of iOS is due to roll out on Monday, October 24.

You’ll be able to watch Fitness+ classes on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.

Fitness+ isn’t free: it’ll cost you $9.99/£9.99 per month or $79.99/£79.99 a year.

  • iPad 9th gen or later
  • iPad Air 5th gen or later
