The average price of a home in Britain has increased amid a better than expected economic outlook.
Values are up 0.8 per cent during the past month from £285,660 in February to £287,880 in March, according to Halifax.
It follows figures released by Nationwide last week, which showed prices fell year-on-year at their sharpest rate for 14 years in March. It said a typical home was worth £257,122, 4.6 per cent less than the peak in August 2022.

North London estate agent Jeremy Leaf said the latest positive house price data confirmed what is being seen on the ground.
‘It confirms what we’re seeing on the ground – falling mortgage rates and expectations that the worst for the economy may be behind us have tempted buyers and sellers out of hibernation,’ he said.
