In Tupelo, Mississippi, the abandoned home was once expected to be torn down but eventually went under the hammer in August 2020.

The property, built by Presley’s great uncle Noah Presley, was put up for auction at just £25,000.

The three-bedroom home, which was overgrown with weeds and foliage, first went up for auction in 2020 but due to coronavirus complications, the property was never sold.

Presley was born at 605 Kelly Street, East Tupelo but he later moved to 1241 Kelly St, where Elvis and his parents lived from 1943 to 1944.

The family moved several times throughout the icon’s childhood but finally settled in this quaint blue home.

Spanning just 1,260-square-ft, the home was carefully deconstructed and stored in a trailer so it could be rebuilt, said Jeff Marren, owner of Rockhurst Auctions.

“So when someone buys the house, they’re going to get the whole trailer and the designs for putting back together.

“Whoever buys it can actually hire the person who took it apart to put it back together for them.

“They can then move it wherever they’d like to,” he told The Post.

The auction was aptly titled Auction on Elvis Presley Boulevard and his childhood home was not the only item up for grabs.

There were hundreds of Elvis artefacts including clothing, jewellery, concert merch and autographs.

Some other items included a 955 Rolex which was gifted to an Presley superfan, Grand Prix sunglasses and a 1969 blue dress shirt.

According to Marren, the house remained stored in Mississippi and only the authentic parts of the home that existed when the Presley’s lived there were kept.

It was taken apart in 2017, which was overseen by Elvis experts Chris Davidson and Stephen Shutts.

The experts noticed that striking discoveries were frequently being unearthed throughout the project, so the disassembled parts of the home have been securely stored away in a trailer, which came with the purchase of the home.

Presley’s birth home, just around the corner from the property that was auctioned, remains a historic landmark and public museum site.

It is unclear whether the property has yet been sold, following the 2020 auction.
