IPHONE fans will have to wait until next year to get hold of two major perks that were expected to arrive this month.

Apple just introduced a whole bunch of free changes, including a brand new Journal app and a secret button trick.

They’re all part of the iOS 17.2 update.

But a pair of big changes billed for the new version have mysteriously been pushed back.

Both features were included in iOS 17.2 beta versions tested by boffins.

It seems the duo weren’t quite ready to go and Apple‘s refreshed documentation says they are delayed until 2024.

The first of them is a new Apple Music tool that allows users to collaborate on playlists.

It lets you to invite friends to a shared playlist that you can all add, reorder or remove songs from.

“The collaborative playlist is what I’m waiting for!!” one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see the playlist sharing come back in 17.3 betas. I already created one with my daughter to share new bands we find,” another added.

“That’s a bummer, I wonder why they decided not to release it,” a third said.

The other hotly anticipated addition not to materialise is AirPlay for hotels.

It would allow people to securely and privately beam their favourite content onto the screen in their room in selected hotels, simply by scanning a QR code.

So if you were banking on using the pair this month you’re out of luck and will have to wait until next year when they will likely appear in iOS 17.3 instead.

iPhone tricks to try today

Here are some of the best…

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
  • Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen (or swipe left to right on an iPhone X or later model), then tap in the bar and type a currency (like $200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
  • Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
  • Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
