TikTok user @JoshFedUp shared his KFC tricks in a series of videos on the social media site.

He said there are ways to get freebies and make sure your order is top notch.

His tips ranged from swapping your drink for extra sides to getting the freshest food.

Swap your drink for a side

Many customers order meals when they go to KFC and those deals include a drink.

But you might not necessarily want the drink.

Josh said you can swap it for a different side, such as fries, gravy, beans or coleslaw.

That essentially gives you extra food for free.

“Literally no one knew this who was ordering, if you don’t want a drink you can swap it for a side,” he said.

“I do this every time I go to KFC or pretty much any fast food place. Lots of places do it.”

So it might be worth trying out at your other fast food favourites, too.

Avoid peak delivery times

You can order KFC for home delivery using takeaway apps including Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

But Josh recommended only ordering online at quieter times.

You could be left waiting during busy periods, which means your food might not be as fresh as you’d like.

If you live near a KFC store, consider going to collect your food instead.

You can find your nearest branch of the chicken shop here.

“I would avoid ordering food for delivery at peak times,” he said.

“If you can, go into the store because your food will be so much fresher and it won’t end up sitting on a counter for 10 minutes.”

Be polite

It might sound obvious, but good manners and a smile can go a long way when you’re ordering.

There’s nothing stopping you from asking nicely if you can swap out your chips for a different side, for example.

“If you don’t want fries at KFC and you ask nice enough they’ll swap it for a side,” Josh said.

If you want to make swaps, order at the counter rather than using the touch screens.

Ask for drinks without ice

Josh recommended that customers ask for their drinks without any ice.

He said the ice often sits in a tub for a long time, especially at quiet times.

However, he didn’t provide any evidence of unhygienic practices – so it’s really down to your personal preferences.

But if you don’t get ice, it also means you’ll get more of the drink you’ve paid for.

“If you order a drink, ask for no ice,” he said.

“The ice sits in that cooler for hours, especially when it’s quiet, just out in the open for hours.”

KFC has brought back its popular bucket deal for a few more weeks, but it’s more expensive than last time it was on the menu.
