Writing in the Mail, Kim compiles a list of five seamless steps to preserving your device’s battery life.

DON’T PLUG IN SO OFTEN

Constantly striving to have a near-complete battery percentage can be detrimental for your device.

Apple and Samsung both warn their users of having their devices fully charged all the time, as well as charging them overnight.

Meanwhile, Huawei says: “Keeping your battery level as close to the middle (30 percent to 70 percent) as possible can effectively prolong the battery life.”

DON’T LET YOUR LAPTOP LIFE RUN LOW

For laptop users, allowing your device to run out of juice can affect its lifespan.

Not unlike phones, it is advised that you keep your battery percentage at at least 40 percent as often as you can.

Most laptops retail for over £1,000, so it’s doubly important to preserve the life of those costly gadgets.

LEARN HOW TO CLEAN YOUR DEVICE

Mobile phones can accumulate dirt, dust and gunk as it travels around in your pocket, bag, or hand.

Most individuals will give their screen a tokenistic wipe, but it’s worthwhile learning how to thoroughly cleanse your device, as buildups can cause a host of issues.

You can do this by taking a soft, lint-free cloth, dampening the cloth with a little water and wiping down the front and the back of your handset – using steady, circular motions to lift off the accumulated dirt.

STAY OUT OF THE SUN

Exposing your device to balmy hot conditions can result in irreparable damage.

Not only could your battery overheat, but the rays can also inflict data loss and corruption.

To avoid those dreaded glitches and malfunctions, keep your phone in a shaded spot whenever possible.

ROUTINELY CHANGE YOUR ROUTER PASSWORD

Continuing to change your router’s password lessens the risk of hackers using your network to attack your gadgets.

To avoid this stark threat, simply set an original password that few people would think of through your router’s admin page here.

While you’re at it, look for ‘Remote Administration’. This allows you to log into your router over the internet and manage it.
