SMARTPHONES don’t need to cost the Earth.

There are plenty of great options out there on Android worth considering if you’re looking for a brand new handset on a budget.

And many are capable of impressive stuff the likes of Apple and Samsung don’t offer for the same cheap price.

We’ve managed to get a quick taster of these three recently launched devices which start at only £149.

Honor Magic5 Lite

Best for: big battery

The Honor Magic5 Lite is dinky, lightweight and only costs £329.99 despite all it’s packing.

If you seek something that doesn’t run out of battery fast, this might be the one.

It has a whooping 5,100mAh – to put that into perspective, the latest iPhone’s battery isn’t even that big.

According to the firm, it can withstanding more than three full days of moderate use – though we haven’t put that claim to the test ourselves.

The camera is no thrills with a 64-megapixel snapper, producing average shots considering the price.

If a device that’s built to last is what you’re after, look no further than the new Nokia G22.

The firm has put repairability at the heart of its latest smartphone, which only costs £149.99.

In collaboration with iFixit you can easily access repair guides and cheap parts to replace a damaged display, bent charging port or flat battery and do it yourself.

A new battery only sets you back £22.99 so you won’t have to fork out for an expensive repair or brand new phone years later.

In a bre-briefing, a Nokia rep showed how swapping the battery out yourself with a guitar pick-like tool is not only easy but quick – it took him less than five minutes.

The rest of the phone is pretty standard for this sort of price, with a plastic build, average display and 50-megapixel camera.

It goes on sale from March 8.

Realme GT3

Best for: fast charging

There’s nothing worse than realising that you’re low on battery and need to head out ASAP.

Well, the Realme GT3 could be the answer with its super speedy charging which will give you a full battery in less than ten minutes, the firm claims.

It’s fitted with a vapour cooling system to handle those rapid charging speeds.

The device doesn’t go on sale until May / June.

And Realme hasn’t confirmed UK pricing yet – but we do know it’ll start at $649 in the US, which is about £540 across the pond.

If you like the idea of having fast charging right now, perhaps look into the Realme GT NEO 3 150W which is already out.
