A bargain expert says Iceland has the best loyalty card scheme

He says the Iceland has he best supermarket loyalty scheme is Iceland – and not many Brits realise.

Tom told The Sun: “Iceland’s scheme is different to all the other supermarkets because it rewards your upfront loyalty with cash.

“Top up the card with £20 and it gives you £1 extra. That works out to be 5% cashback which is way more generous than other supermarkets.

“Pretty much every supermarket has a loyalty scheme and I recommend signing up for as many as you can.

“Even Co-Op’s, which is the only one to charge you £1 to sign up, works out to be great value – probably my second favourite.”

Hoiw much cashback you get with each clubcard scheme?

  • Sainsbury’s Nectar offers 0.5%,
  • Tesco Clubcard offers 1%,
  • Co-op Membership offers 5% and coupons but only on selected items,
  • ASDA Rewards offers 10% only on selected items,
  • Iceland works out as 5%

“Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury’s Nectar may be the most difficult to earn decent rewards for – but a tip for Sainsbury’s Nectar is not to shop there for a few weeks.

“Then, you often get a coupon at the till offering you £10 off when you next spend £60. That’s a whopping 16% discount.”

However, Tom said the best scheme for each person depends on their individual shopping habits.

He explained: “If you’re a fan of the Co-op own brand range, you can earn 5% back on lots of items.

“If you like to fill up your car when you do the weekly shop, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are two of the only supermarkets that offer points for fuel.

“If you shop in Iceland regularly, you can earn 5% cashback every time you spend £20, as long as you remember to upload money to your card beforehand.”

“My advice is to sign up for as many loyalty schemes as possible, so you have the best chance of earning rewards on your shopping.”
