You could easily be spending more than £30 to feed the whole family – but there are ways to avoid paying full price.

Consumer expert Tom Church, co-founder of deals site LatestDeals, has shared his seven tips for spending less at Pizza Hut.

Some of his hacks can save you cash at just the click of a button – here’s all you need to know.

Sign up to newsletter – save 20%

Chains will often flog exclusive freebies and discounts to customers if they sign up to newsletters.

Pizza Hut is no exception – you’ll have to sign up on the chain’s website adding a few personal details like your email and phone number.

Signing up could pay off, Tom says: “By being on the insider list, you can get hold of special offers such as 241 Pizza, 20% off and vouchers including Kids Eat Free.”

Download the app – free pizza

You can get a free pizza by downloading the free Pizza Hut app via the App Store or Google Play.

On the app, you will find a section called the Huts Rewards scheme.

You’ll earn one “slice” – or point – for every £10 you spend.

Then, you can cash in your slices for free food once you have enough.

What you can get for free depends on how many slices you have saved up.

You can get a free side if you save up five, and a free medium pizza if you save up seven.

But that means you have to spend £50 and £70 respectively before getting your free snack.

Some key workers get 25% off meals

Those who work for the NHS, emergency services, social care sector and armed forced can qualify for a Blue Light Card.

This is where you can get discounts at shops, chains and more because you are a key worker.

Pizza Hut is part of the scheme, and all you need to sign up online for a Blue Light Card and pop your unique code into your order (or show it to your server) to get 25% off.

How to get two for one pizzas

If you’re a Compare the Market customer, you can use the Meerkat Meals app to get two for one deals on pizzas.

If you’ve taken out an insurance deal, credit card or other deal with the price comparison site, you get a year pass for Meerkat Meals – which offers two for one deals on meals at chains including Pizza Hut.

Download the Meerkat Meals app which is free to download on Google Play or the App Store, to get the offer.

But you have to spend at least £30 to qualify for the discount.

“So if you’re planning a family meal, whether it’s a night in or dining out, you can make some major savings after you sign up for a great new broadband deal,” Tom says.

Discount schemes – save 50%

Using restaurant discount schemes can see you save up to 50% off your bill.

For example, a Tastecard can get you two-for-one meals or 50% food at a wide range of pubs and restaurants nationwide – including Pizza Hut.

A membership costs £34.99.

You should mention you have a Tastecard membership when booking a table at one of the scheme’s participating chains.

Show your card when you arrive at the restaurant to get the money off.

Hunt for discount codes – up to 50% off

If you’re ordering online for a takeaway, always make sure to hunt for discount codes.

Latest Deals website has pages for Pizza Hut vouchers and delivery deals, as well as HotUKDeals.

Some offers can see you get up to 50% off your order – but this will depend on what deal is on at the time.

You should also check your emails for any promotions if you sign up to the newsletter, and ring up your local branch as well.

Get clued up on freebies

You’ll want to make the most of the freebies already on offer at Pizza Hut, Tom says.

Customers can get unlimited refills on some fizzy drinks from machines, as well as at the chain’s Ice Cream Factory station.

An ex Pizza Hut worker has revealed what it’s like to work at the chain.

Elsewhere, a former Greggs worker reveals secrets of the chain including why he’ll ‘never eat there again’ after he ‘saw too much’.

And McDonald’s worker reveals whether the restaurant’s much-rumoured ‘secret menu’ really does exist
