WITH the nights drawing in, it’s the perfect time to sort out your lighting at home.
Trendy smart lights let you illuminate your living room in endless different colours with just a click on your phone, and can even change in time with music and movies.
The best kit can cost hundreds but there are decent budget alternatives.
Here are the best deals, plus some other ways to brighten up your winter.
DISCO TIME: Philips Hue is the market leader in smart lighting with its fancy colour-changing bulbs which turn to 16million different shades.
But they are £50 each. Robert Dyas now has £10 off, down to £39.99.
Control them with the Philips Hue app, which also allows you to save money by switching off the lights remotely or setting them on timers.

TOO SKINT? Try the more basic TP-LINK Tapo L530B smart colour bulb from Currys, down £4 to £8.99. You control it using the free Tapo app which works well and is easy to use.

For little tweaks to a room, check out Dunelm’s funky llama string lights, down £1.50 to £3.50, or Pink Peony twig lights, down to £4.20 from £6.

FUN WITH THE SUN: Beat the winter gloom with some pretty solar lamps to brighten the garden.

WHAT THE BLAZES: Lakeland is selling Northern Lights Colour Fire Cones that turn the flames of your fire blue or green to create a mystical effect.
Just light up a fire — in a fireplace, pit or woodburner, or a campfire — then chuck in the cones and the magic begins. A box of 30 to 40 is £14.99 but you can currently buy two for £25.

CANDLE WITH CARE: Cosy up with fragrant candles for winter evenings.
I recommend a half-price Yankee Candle Christmas gift set from Boots, down to £26.
