OUR bundles of joy come with bundles of costs, as any new parent will tell you.

But there are lots of simple ways to cut costs. Follow these tips to save on baby essentials . . .

DON’T GO GAGA OVER THE ACCESSORIES: Resist the temptation to furnish your nursery with expensive brands. Ikea is selling the Gulliver white changing table for £65. Better still, check out second-hand sites such as Gumtree, eBay and Preloved. A quick search on Gumtree revealed the same table for just £15.

Save: £50

PRE-LOVED IS PERFECT: Make big savings on clothes by visiting charity shops or buying bundles via sites such as Facebook Marketplace. When my two were babies, I loved shopping for bargains at Fara Kids charity shops.

BUM DEAL: Check out the Bum Deal app to see which retailers have offers on nappies. A quick search revealed Asda is doing a two-for-£16 deal on Pampers new baby size one nappies, normally priced at £10 per jumbo pack of 80.

Save: £4 when buying two packs

JOIN A PARENTING CLUB: Brands including Bounty, Emma’s Diary and Boots have their own parenting clubs with special offers. With the Newborn Pack from Bounty, you get lots of free samples and money-off vouchers. To get access to the Boots Parenting Club you need an Advantage Card. Membership will give you eight points per £1 spend, as well as a free Aveeno baby daily care hair & body wash, normally £7.99

SLEEP DREAMS: If you are struggling with sleep deprivation, sign up to the infant sleeping courses by Aldi’s Mamia in partnership with Just Chill Baby Sleep. An online course starts from £27.
