A POPULAR KFC branch is set to shut its doors for good today as fans mourn the loss of a local favourite.
The store on Bangor High Street in North Wales will close permanently in a major blow to the high street.
Fans have expressed their disbelief as the seemingly busy and popular branch will close.
A shocked fan shared: “There’s going to be nothing left in Bangor, thinking of the staff who are having to lose their jobs!”
One fan posted: “There may be nicer places to eat but KFC and Subway are big draws for teenagers.
“There won’t be anywhere for them and they’ll stop going to the high street completely!”

A KFC Spokesperson told Daily Post: “It’s been a great run, but all good things must come to an end, so this week we’re closing our doors for good at KFC Bangor High Street.
“We hate goodbyes so we’re looking forward to welcoming all our loyal fans just down the road at our drive thru Caernarfon Road restaurant – see you there.”
Another chimed in: “Best get my zinger tower meal in before then.”
One said: “I’m really not a KFC fan but sad to see another empty building.”

It’s the latest closure as the fast food giant has unexpectedly shut many branches in recent months.
Fans were outraged when the KFC in Broadstairs, Kent, put up posters in its windows informing customers of the closure.
The news of the closure has shocked residents, with one questioning: “Is this a joke?”, while another added: “Didn’t see that coming,” Kent Online reports.
The hospitality sector as a whole has been struggling to bounce back after the pandemic, only to be hit with soaring energy bills and inflation.
Some well-known retailers have shut a handful of branches, while others have disappeared from the high street for good.
Italian dining chain Prezzo revealed plans to shut 46 restaurants back in April as a result of soaring energy and food costs, putting 810 jobs at risk.
TRG, which owned Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito and Wagamama, revealed that it would shut down around 40 sites by April 2024.
KFC is not the only fast-food chain to shut branches in recent months.
McDonald’s permanently shut a franchise branch in Dorset this month.
Meanwhile, family favourite restaurant chain The Restaurant Group shut 23 stores in May this year.
But it’s not all bad news and some fast-food chains are expanding in the UK.
The Sun exclusively revealed Chick-fil-A has plans to open new branches from early 2025.
Meanwhile, Dunkin’ Donuts is planning to double its store count in the UK over the next two years.
