A LUCKY man has won £43million in the lottery thanks to his girlfriend’s craving for something sweet.

Aaron Parsons won the massive jackpot after buying a ticket on a whim while picking up cake for his beau.

Aaron recalled: “We had no eggs or sugar, so we went to the store, and I bought the ticket.

“If we hadn’t gone to the store that night, I wouldn’t have gotten this ticket and I wouldn’t have won $55 million.”

Aaron had forgotten about his ticket until days later when he saw an advertisement about the lottery.

After logging onto the lottery app, he said he couldn’t believe his luck – and even scanned it a few times to ensure it was true.

He said: “I could not believe it. I called the Western Canada Lottery Corporation to triple-check that I had actually won.”

To reward his girlfriend for his winnings, he plans to buy her any car she wants.

He also said his parents will quit their jobs, and he plans to share money with his brother and his friends.

As for Aaron – he isn’t sure what he’ll do with his newfound winnings.

Aaron said: “This is completely life-altering, and I’m still in such shock. I haven’t started thinking about what I need or want right now – not yet.”

For one lottery winner, they weren’t lucky – after winning the lottery with his girlfriend, she left him and took all the money.

Kirk Stevens thought he was in March last year when his live-in girlfriend won the jackpot in the National Lottery’s Set For Life draw — £10,000 a month for 30 years, worth in total £3.6million.

But 18 months later, Kirk, 39, is reeling after Laura, 40, dumped him, moved into a smart new house and cut him off from the jackpot loot.

He says: “Laura had told me we’d live the life of Riley if we won. Now she’s gone. She pulled the plug and took everything. She even wants our two dogs.

“Our arrangement was never any more formal but I didn’t think I needed anything more. We were a couple, living together in my home. Besides, I never expected to win.”
