A LUCKY councillor has told exactly how he will spend his cash after scooping £286,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Anthony McMullen, 33, won the whopping jackpot in Tyne and Wear earlier this week – but says he won’t be splashing the cash on luxuries.
He says he will remain a councillor for Weetslade and won’t be giving up his day job as software engineer.
Anthony told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: “I know a lot of people are struggling and it’s nice not to be in that position, but it’s not something I can’t relate to.
“I have family members and friends who are in that position.
“The money won’t de-ground me, I won’t be driving around in a Bentley or walking around with a gold watch, I’m still the same old me I ever was.”
However, he does plan on splashing a little dough on his loved ones and their home.
He explained: “We’ll definitely go on holiday and treat ourselves more than just scrimping and saving.
“But the first thing I want to do is get the garden done.”
Other Seaton Burn lottery winners include Mark and Ray Robson, who won £142,857.

Anthony continued: “Nothing changes, normal services continue, I will still be in the same car and doing the same thing I have always done.
“I’m still making sure the pennies watch themselves where I can and have them make a difference, it’s not about frivolousness. I still can’t believe it to be honest.”
