A GRANDAD who scooped £50,000 from a two quid bet says he would have lost it all if it wasn’t for his ex-wife.
The man, who wants to remain anonymous, bagged the life-changing sum in the New York Lotto, but lives in Plymouth, Devon.
He chose four numbers, the birth dates of his four grandchildren, to secure his monster win.
In “total shock” at the win, the dad-of-three revealed: “My ex wife has an account with a rival bookies and in 2020 I thought it would be better if I switched to Betfred…
“And I’m so glad I did because now I am now celebrating the biggest win of my life.”
The man, in his 50s, plans to treat his granddkids to a holiday with the winnings, PlymouthLive reported.

The grandad’s win comes as a couple revealed how they’ve continued living a normal life, despite bagging a £2.2 million lotto jackpot.
Shocked Colin, not his real name, told his wife he believed they had hit the jackpot bagging around £50,000 back in February 2012.
In disbelief, he stayed up late checking his numbers while she had gone to bed.
But their lives took a huge turn when he called Camelot the next morning to confirm they had actually won a staggering £2.2million.
The couple was struggling financially, and Colin had been severely injured in a fall while his wife worked part-time as a receptionist.
The wife said: “The money was in our account in less than a week. It was unbelievable to see our balance with so many zeroes.”
