A MAN who bought a house online after seeing an advert but didn’t view inside says it was a complete gamble but it’s paying off.

Joshua Keating bought the place as a rental property, completing the deal in May last year, but admitted he hadn’t actually seen the house.

Speaking on his YouTube page, Joshua said: “A funny little caveat I guess is that I actually haven’t seen this house at all

“I haven’t been inside and so I bought it pretty blind and I had a family member quickly go check it out for me and they said it was okay.”

In the footage he documented how the sale of the house was finally completed and how he started to renovate the place.

Once all the money had been transferred and everyone was happy, including the seller, estate agents and solicitors, the keys were finally exchanged.

The local estate agent Belvoir also gave Joshua a little thank you box saying ‘Welcome to your new home’ on the top.

Inside were various items including some ginger lemonade, some cloudy cider, a bottle of hand sanitizer, some Bold washing detergent, Lenor fabric conditioner and some coffee bags.

Joshua said: “Overall not what I was expecting I’ve never had one of these welcome boxes before but overall, yeah obviously I really do appreciate this sort of stuff.

“It just gives out a little bit of a personal touch and it makes you feel quite welcomed as a as a customer.

“It’s greatly appreciated.”

Joshua then went over to his new place to have a look round for the first time.

Walking through the front door, he said: “Straight into the living room area… so what the hell is this? For some reason there’s sand, not sure why there’s sand in the living room.

“So overall, not a bad space.”

He then walks into the back room where the kitchen is and remarks: “Not too bad, not too bad” although he added the “covers look a bit tired”.

Although he did admit it would “need a lot of love” before any tenants could move in.

Once up the stairs he went to look at the back bedroom which “wasn’t a bad size” and bigger than he thought it would be.

Moving across the hall and into the front bedroom, he was taken aback by the “horrendous” wallpaper, which he said would definitely have to go.

NEEDS SOME ‘LOVE’

But overall, he was impressed with the size of the bedrooms.

Finally, he inspected the bathroom which was considered “not too bad” but once again in need of some “love”.

Stepping out into the back garden, he was also impressed with the size of it but it was clearly overgrown and in need of a lot of attention.

Reflecting on his purchase, Joshua said: “This is the first time I’ve ever bought a property without looking at the inside before and so it’s always a bit of a gamble but I just think sometimes you know.

“It all comes down to the property price. I mean I mean house was £85,000.”

He added: “So it’s obviously there’s going to need some work doing and some cosmetic work and I think that’s the case for this one.

“At the end of the day it’s a house for £85,000 so you can’t really complain too much.”
