The 23-year-old’s business, Pink Honey UK, boomed when it went viral on TikTok and millions of users raced to try the revolutionary beauty product.

But Olivia told MEN: “I kind of made it up to be honest.

“A lot of my customers were coming in for that and there was nothing holding coarse hairs or thicker hairs.

“With ours it comes in a jar with a hole in the centre and it’s the hole that is the million dollar idea for us because when you put the brush in the middle and swirl it, you get an even distribution of product so it’s a lot faster and you get better performance.”

And Olivia’s overnight success was enough to inspire boyfriend Byron to join the company.

The 27-year-old had been working night shifts as a forklift driver but quickly left his job to help Olivia.

He said: “It was crazy, it started just before lockdown but then it started picking up pace which we did see with a lot of brands because everyone was at home and started TikTok.

“We didn’t really see the potential at first, but when everything first started adding up we were like, ‘right we need to get on to this.’”

Byron explained the couple do not need to pay for adverts on TikTok, just simply post on their account and link to the product.

He described the magic of the app and said: “If that product goes viral you can earn a ridiculous amount of money, it’s crazy.”

“When TikTok shop was introduced that was our biggest growth spurt on there because of the way it works and how easy it is to buy something in one click”, agreed Olivia.

The happy couple have gained so much success from their business, they jetted off to Thailand and tied the knot.

“We got married like a couple of weeks ago, we got married in Thailand and we had the wedding that we could never have dreamed of due to Pink Honey,” explained Byron.

“That literally made our dream day come true.

“We were able to get all the family out to Thailand, have a wedding over there and a little honeymoon. It’s been good, it’s been amazing.”

How to set up a TikTok business

TikTok can be a valuable tool for selling and promoting your business.

  • Set up a TikTok merchant account.
  • Download the TikTok Shopify app to help create adverts for your business
  • There is also an app called TikTok for Business which helps track the response to advertisement campaigns.

Describe your business in your bio

A successful first impression will help attract customers – it is a good idea to fill your business description with keywords that users are likely to search for.

Optimise your product catalogue for TikTok

This means using high-quality images to give potential customers an enjoyable shopping experience.

Make sure advertisement matches with the style of the brand and use as many words as possible to describe the product.

Use shoppable videos

TikTok and Shopify have a new deal which means merchants can sell products directly through TikTok by posting links to products.

Shopify is a good way to grow your eCommerce store and boost TikTok followers at the same time.

Add a CTA

A CTA (call to action) is a short statement that tells users what action you want them to take, such as “buy now” or “sign up”.

Use your CTA to show users your eCommerce shop, and other socials.

Your TikTok bio can also be used to promote discount codes to limited offers you have for your products.

Promote your products

Create a few TikTok videos that show users exactly what your product is and why they should buy it.

Use the latest trends to attract more followers and make your account a fun place for TikTokers to visit.

TikTok will show your videos to more users if they are gaining more views and shares.

Partner with influencers

Partnering with TikTok influencers and asking them promote your products or services will ensure your product reaches a larger audience.

Find an influencer whose brand matches with yours to help.
