A MAN has been left feeling duped after making advances to his “perfect” woman on the internet – who turned out to be fake.

Instead of being a classic catfish, the 19-year-old woman named Claudia was instead created via artificial intelligence (AI).

“Feel a bit cheated,” Reddit user @legalbeagle1966 said after a Washington Post reporter told him Claudia was likely a fraud.

Just a week prior the user had been commenting on her photos, telling her she looked “pretty sexy and perfect”.

Two computer science students claim they created Claudia as a joke – and a way to make some extra cash, according to Rolling Stone.

The pair spotted a post on Reddit from a guy who said he made $500 catfishing users with photos of real women – so the duo made up their own scheme.

Lewd images of Claudia have been posted on a number of subreddits, such as r/amihot.

The students made about $100 selling her nudes to accounts like @legalbeagle1966 who had been tricked by Claudia’s flawless looks.

Reddit users were likely unaware they were paying for images from a woman who never existed.

“You could say this whole account is just a test to see if you can fool people with AI pictures,” the team behind Claudia, who didn’t want to be named, told Rolling Stone.

“We honestly didn’t think it would get this much traction.”

It uses machine learning to create hyper-realistic images using text-based prompts.

But some slightly more tech-savvy Redditors were able to see through the ruse, however.

“For those who aren’t aware I’m going to kill your fantasy,” Reddit user @MeysterA commented.

“This is literally an AI creation, if you’ve worked with AI image models and making your own long enough, you can 10000% tell. Sorry to ruin the surprise I guess.”

This Reddit user, alongside many others, have been waiting for AI-images to become undetectable to the human eye.

“Good on them, [I] was waiting for this to happen eventually.

“Whatever you’re using for your prompts try adding blemishes and imperfections, this looks too processed but otherwise good on you.

“This is honestly a great use case to see if AI can sell or would go unnoticed. It did. Teach me your ways lol.”
