A WOMAN who was told by a clairvoyant she was due to win money went on to bag £12k in the Postcode Lottery.

Elaine Thompson, from Middlesbrough, had recently cancelled her entry into the lottery draw but changed tack after she received the bizarre prediction.

The 58-year-old said: “The fortune teller predicted I was going to come into a significant amount of money.

“I’d just cancelled the Postcode Lottery. A few days later I reinstated the ticket.”

After re-entering the cash prize draw, superstitious Elaine discovered that she had raked in a show-stopping £12k – sharing the £10.2million winnings with 572 other Smoggies.

The scale of the winner’s earnings came as a welcome surprise as all were told in advance they had won a minimum of £4K – but had no idea exactly how much until they were presented with the cardboard cheques.

The lucky winners of the TS5 postcode popped the champers as they were presented with their eye-watering winnings in Middlesbrough town centre.

Elaine paid tribute to the fortune-teller’s prophetic words – and plans to splash some of the cash on a sun-soaked Spanish holiday.

Clair continued: “I can’t thank the clairvoyant enough – without her I would have missed out.

“I will be spoiling my family and taking my daughters to Fuerteventura.”

Grandparents Brian and Karen Wing bagged the “life-changing” £379,418 jackpot prize – after initially believing they were being cold-called.

Retired Brian, 68, said: “I was sat in the pub while on holiday in Northumberland when I got a call.

“I didn’t believe it at first. You think it’s a scam.

“I didn’t even ring them back. Then I got a letter, and even then I wasn’t sure if it was real. You do not want to get your hopes up.

“To have won this amount of money is life changing.”
