AMAZON Prime users have been so frustrated with the app’s latest changes, they’ve resorted to canceling their accounts.
Ever since Amazon added advertisements to its Video Platform in January, users have not been happy.
Besides the fact that ads are incredibly inconvenient, users also need to pay an additional $2.99 per month if they want to go ad-free.
Amazon said the ads would allow them to keep investing in compelling content.
However, this new change does not sit well with members who have taken to social media to share their thoughts.
“I canceled two days before the Ads started at the end of January,” one person noted on Reddit.
“The chat and call options were tedious to get through, and they dropped me on hold,” they added.
Eventually, the user said the agents refunded a year of their membership.
“My argument always was that if Amazon had disclosed that ads would be shown at the time of renewal, I would never have renewed,” they said.
Since going live, the post has been upticked hundreds of times and received more than 400 replies.

“The Prime Video selection hasn’t been that good lately. I probably am not getting my money’s worth,” another Reddit user said.
“I absolutely hate ads, so I won’t be using the service,” a third Prime subscriber said.
“To me, ads are an imposition that should not be inserted onto a paid platform. By accepting this, where will it end?” they added.
Another user argued that when Amazon Prime was $79.99 in 2017, it featured better benefits for a cheaper price compared to today’s service.
“It offered Prime Videos ad-free, Prime Music basic (on-demand), unlimited music cloud storage, unlimited photo and video cloud storage,” they said.
“It’s now $140, and all of those are gone. Prime Video charges an extra for ad-free. Prime Music Basic is a radio-like playlist instead of on-demand. You have to pay extra for cloud storage,” they added.
Prime Video became the latest streaming service to introduce ads on Monday.
The service now joins the other four most popular streaming sites in the US: Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, and Max.
