GOOGLE is rolling out a way for iPhone users to stay watching YouTube while also using other apps.
The feature will rely on the ‘picture-in-picture’ abilities of iPhones running iOS 14 or later.
How to watch YouTube while using other apps on your iPhone
Only YouTube Premium subscribers can reportedly take advantage of this trick.
If that’s you, then open up a web browser on your iPhone and go to www.youtube.com/new.
Once there, scroll down to “Picture-in-picture on iOS” and then click “Try it out”.
You’ll be asked to sign into your account.
Start watching a YouTube video of your choice and, while it’s on full screen, swipe on your phone to return to the Home Screen.
You should notice the YouTube video keeps playing in a small box in the corner.
You can move this box around the screen.
If you lock your iPhone, the video will pause.
YouTube says the feature will be avaible until the end of October.
It’s unclear what happens after this date.
Some fans are hoping that the feature could roll out to all YouTube users, even people who don’t have a Premium subscription.
