KIK is a free messaging app which is used by more than 300million people worldwide.
Its target audience is teens and young adults, but allows users to find and chat with total strangers – which has left parents concerned.

The app has previously been described as one of the most worrying apps on the marketplace, with a 2018 BBC report finding the chat app has allegedly been involved in 1,100 child abuse cases.
Can I delete my Kik profile?
You can, on one condition.
You must have access to the email address you originally registered your account with.
Without it, you’ll be unable to permanently delete your account.
Kik gives you the option to temporarily deactivate your account.
This means you will stop receiving Kik messages and emails, your username will not be searchable, and your name will get deleted from your contacts’ lists until you reactivate by signing back in.
To permanently delete your account, simply follow the steps below.

- Fill out the form with all the necessary details
- Then wait for Kik to send you an email with a link to permanently deactivate your account

What happens when you delete a Kik account?
Once deleted, the account cannot be restored.
If you or someone you know has searched for, or sent messages to your account, your profile will be cached on their device.
But after a few days, it will disappear from their phone completely.
Any new contacts who search for your username won’t be able to find your account.
If you ever want to use the service in the future, you’ll have to sign up again with a different email address.
