TIKTOK is a lot of fun but you can also utilise the app to make money.

Big names on the app like Addison Rae and Charli D’Amelio have made millions from their short video clip posts.

We’ve rounded up several steps you could take to monetise your TikTok account.

Work out your brand

To gain TikTok followers, you need to offer them something.

That might be videos of you dancing or something like fashion, food or comedy.

Whatever it is, make sure you keep consistent and you’ll end up in a TikTok community which shares your niche and knows what to expect from your account.

Offer strong content

This may seem obvious but each video you post is crucial.

Make sure you think your videos would be entertaining to a wide audience.

Try and come up with original or unique ideas but you can also create your own interpretation of trends and use popular TikTok songs.

Make sure you add relevant hashtags to your content and to try and join a wider conversation.

You could even take part in relevant challenges and use the appropriate hashtags so your video could get viewed by more people.

Get followers

Strong branding and good content should hopefully lead to more followers.

You should also try following lots of other similar accounts that might follow you back.

Followers are key to monetising your TikTok account.

According to Forbes, you could need anywhere between 10,000 to 1 million TikTok followers to start making good money.

The more followers you have, the more likely a brand will pay you to advertise their product.

You can also use online popularity to branch into other areas, such as creating your own merchandise, promoting a YouTube channel or forging an acting and singing career like Addison Rae.

Live stream on TikTok

If you have over 1,000 followers on TikTok then you can start live streaming and monetising those live streams.

TikTok users can buy coins which they can give away to you during a live stream.

These coin donations can be exchanged for real money, just like on popular live stream app Twitch.
