The discount supermarket sells bundles of fruit and veg for under two quid – here’s how to grab one.

Lidl’s Waste Not scheme began in 2019 to stop quality food being chucked away.
To do this, the supermarket began selling boxes of imperfect fruit and veg for just £1.50 and has continued to do so ever since.
It’s good for the planet and even better for shoppers’ pockets.
In fact, many supermarkets began their own wonky veg initiative to reduce waste, so products that look a little odd can still make tasty meals.
After trialling the bargain boxes, Lidl rolled the scheme out to all 11,550 stores, much to shoppers’ delight.
What’s in the box?

The contents of your bargain box will vary each time as each bundle is put together on the day by Lidl’s in-store “freshness specialists”/
They pick out damaged, discoloured or deteriorated items which are still perfectly good to eat.
Produce you might find in the box includes tomatoes, bananas, courgettes, and aubergines.
The crate only contains fruit and veg, and each box weighs in at approximately 5kg.
Best of all, it costs just £1.50.
The items change day-to-day depending on what’s on the shelves, so shoppers can’t pick what goes into each bundle.
But this means customers are at least guaranteed variety in their box, which is great for switching up meals.
Lidl’s website gives its shoppers a helping hand with cooking instructions for items commonly included in the bundles.
How to find them?
The boxes aren’t available all day, so you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled.
When in stock, the goods will be up for grabs from opening until midday.
After 12pm, the remaining boxes are given to local charities through Lidl’s surplus food programme, Feed it Back.
Where in store you’ll find your bargain box will vary, so it’s worth asking a staff member if you can’t see them.
But note, availability varies, and not all stores will have them.
Other supermarkets including Asda also do discounted veg boxes too.
It version is priced at £3.50, meaning you could save around £2 by grabbing Lidl’s one instead.
With inflation rates currently soaring, it’s estimated that shopping bills are due to rise another £180 a year – so every little helps.
The cost of living crisis is plunging thousands into poverty, and some are having to make extreme decisions like choosing between heating or eating.
