The money-off discount is only available to new customers joining the “B&Q Club”, but it is free to join and you can spend the £5 as soon as you receive your voucher.

The deal was first discovered by MoneySavingExpert as part of their weekly Newsletter.

The £5 voucher can be spent on anything at B&Q, except you can’t use it on gift cards or bulk buys and it also can’t be redeemed for installation services or on any delivery charges.

You can only use the voucher once too.

Once you sign up, you’ll get a confirmation email that will have a barcode to scan at the checkout in-store.

B&Q stores are fully open under the current government guidance because they are classed an essential retailer, so you won’t find any limitations on when you can redeem your voucher.

It can take up to 24 hours after signing up to have your email come through, but then it’ll be valid for a minimum of 5 weeks from the date you received it.

If you’re shopping online, then the email will have a code to enter at the online checkout.

Home delivery from B&Q starts from £5, but it’s free if you’re spending more than £50.

Your £5 off has to leave the overall total above this though, otherwise the delivery will still be charged.

So if you want to cash in on the free home-sent service then you’ll need to spend a minimum of £55.

Alternatively, you can use B&Q’s free click and collect service, you’ll just need to use their store locator to check where your closest shop is.

Last year, B&Q started trialling ‘mini shops’ inside Asda supermarkets for customers to buy their DIY gear alongside groceries.

The store has been selling hot tubs for under £400 as the countdown to warmer weather has Brits sprucing up their gardens

And if you’re still looking for some back yard inspiration, the store is selling outdoor dining sets even cheaper, at just over £200.
