How do I turn on Street View in Google Maps?

Getting street view on Google Maps is very easy.

Here’s how to activate it on a tablet or smartphone.

  1. Open the Google Maps app on your device.
  2. Search for a place or touch and hold a spot that is on the map
  3. Tap the Street View thumbnail in the bottom left corner
  4. Drag the screen to view the current surroundings

You can also change the direction and go up and down the street by using the white arrows.

The service has even added an immersive 3D feature which can be used inside and outside on its Street View facility.

Why can’t I get Street View on Google Maps?

Since Google street view launched in 2007, 87 countries in all seven continents have been largely mapped out.

However, there are still some countries that don’t have street view due to privacy concerns.

In South America, Costa Rica, Venezuela,and Paraguay do not have street view.

In Africa, only Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana have street view available.

China, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Papua New Guinea, and North Korea can not be viewed.

In Germany, only some major cities can be viewed.

How can I share Google Maps location on my iPhone?

For those using street view on iPhones, you can also share your location with others.

First, you add their Gmail address to your Google Contacts, then you open Google Maps, tap your profile picture, and then choose Location Sharing.

Next, tap the Share Location button and then you can decide how long you want to share your location and who to.

After that, tap Share, and the contacts you selected will receive an alert and are now able to track your location.
