Bidders are circling one of Savile Row’s oldest tailors which has been put up for sale after its Chinese owner went bust.
Multiple potential buyers are interested in taking over Gieves & Hawkes, which dates back to 1771 and has dressed Lord Nelson, Winston Churchill and the Royal Family.
The London tailor made the Queen’s boat cloak in 1953 and has dressed the Prince of Wales, George VI, and Princes William and Harry.

The brand, and sister company Kent & Curwen, are owned by Trinity Group, a subsidiary of Shandong Ruyi Technology Group, which went bust in January and appointed liquidators from FTI Consulting to sell its assets, including Gieves.
FTI said yesterday a sale process had begun and could be complete by October. But it was ‘not in a rush’.
Liquidator Daniel Chow said: ‘Gieves has a solid foundation and a reputable name.
‘We are confident we will find the right partner who can bring its expertise and resources to help drive future growth, maximise its value and take it to the next level.’
