SHOPPERS have hit out after Zara closed a popular store days before Christmas.
The high street fashion chain closed their store on Fremlin Walk, Maidstone, last week.
The last day of trading was Monday. Locals have expressed disappointment around the closure on social media.
One person said: “Sadly the town centre is haemorrhaging decent shops and restaurants.”
Another posted: “This is a shame for Maidstone. Zara closing must be to do with lease being up and the fact that they are much quieter without M and S being nearby.”
Some shoppers complained that Zara had not notified customers that the shop in Maidstone was about to close.
The Spanish owned chain, famous for their fast and flexible production times, has around 60 stores in the UK.
Over recent weeks Zara has been targeted by Pro-Palestinian demonstrators in London’s West End.
Yesterday protesters on Oxford Street forced Zara to bring down their shutters.
Zara is owned by Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega, who founded parent company Inditex in 1975.

Even charity shops are struggling Oxfam confirmed it would be closing eight of its UK stores this year.
The Sun approached Zara for comment on the closure of their store in Maidstone.
