Are your WhatsApp texts never getting through, do you think you could have been blocked? There are some tell-tale signs that somebody has cut contact with you.

If you haven’t heard from someone for a while it can be easy to jump the gun and assume they have severed ties – but they could just be busy.

But if they have blocked you, they will certainly have their reasons. To find out for certain, there are a few methods you can use.

On the app, there is not a direct way to check if you have been blocked, and you won’t receive any notifications to indicate it has happened.

However, the first giveaway you have been blocked is that your phone calls are not being received.

If someone blocks you, your calls simply will not be allowed to get through. But, there could be a few explanations for that – like the person having no signal or their phone being switched off.

Another sign you may have been blocked is that you will no longer be able to view the person’s ‘last seen’ status in the chat window.

However, don’t jump to conclusions again, because there are other reasons you may not be able to view their status.

In 2022, WhatsApp introduced a way for users to hide their ‘last seen’ indicator and there could be various reasons why it is not appearing on your phone.

Another way to gauge if you’ve been blocked is checking to see if your messages have been delivered.

If someone has blocked you, your messages will be marked as sent, not delivered.

But users should also be cautious using this method as it can also occur when the person has no internet connections.

Checking your sent-message status against another person who also has a sent message is a great way to check – however, it is possible that you have both been blocked.

If you find out your number is blocked, it may be worth considering why the person has chosen to block your number

If you need more evidence, you can attempt to make a group chat with the suspected-blocker.

WhatsApp will not allow you to add the contact to the group because you have been blocked.

If you have concluded that you have been blocked, it might be worth considering why the person has chosen to take the action, was it an accident? Or have you done something worth blocking?

If you have been harassing or abusing someone, you should stop contacting them.

For any victims of malicious messaging, you can report this online or by calling the police via 101.

If you want to block someone on WhatsApp, all you need to do is follow these four steps:

  1. Open the WhatsApp chat with the contact you want to block
  2. Click the name at the top of the chat
  3. Scroll down until you see the option to Block or Report them
  4. Select this and then click Block

Of course, if you have accidentally blocked somebody there is a way to reverse the action.

All you need todo  is open the app and search for the blocked person, tap the bubble below the chat and then choose the option to ‘unblock’.

However, if someone has blocked your number, you will not be able to reverse this action.
