The opening of the cafe has created 15 new jobs for the area and is the third Greggs shop to open in partnership with Sainsbury’s.

In May, Greggs opened a new shop in Sainsbury’s Biggleswade petrol station in Bedfordshire.

At the time it said it would be looking to expand with similar shops but would not confirm any further information.

The new cafe in Sheffield will open from 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.

Customers will be able to takeaway or dine in and choose from all Greggs favorites, including freshly prepared sandwiches, bakes and sweet treats.

Greggs and Sainsbury’s plan to launch more sites together by the end of this year, which will include both petrol filling stations and cafes.

We will update you as soon as we have any information on further locations.

Tony Rowson, property director at Greggs said: “Our first Greggs café with Sainsbury’s is helping us continue to expand and diversify our retail estate as part of our ambitious property strategy.

“The opening will allow us to provide Greggs favourites to even more customers, in a format that complements Sainsbury’s Crystal Peaks store.”

Elizabeth Newman, director of commercial partnerships at Sainsbury’s, said the supermarket was “delighted” to have welcomed Greggs to another Sainsbury’s store.

She added that the Bigglesware concept has proven “very popular” and expects the new cafe in Crystal Peaks to “build on its success”.

Despite some retailers on the high street struggling Greggs seems to be going from strength to strength.

The bakery chain currently runs around 2,300 shops across the UK, but said it hopes to grow to more than 3,000 stores in the future.

It recently opened two more 24-hour airport branches, taking its total to six around the UK.

It has also extended the opening hours for around 500 shops to 8pm or later, making it even easier for Greggs fans to get their fix.

Meanwhile, it has least 17 drive-thru stores across the country and plans to open as many as 10 more by the end of the year.

It has also rolled out a total of 28 concessions inside Tesco and has partnerships with Asda and Primark.

The chain has a loyal following of customers and recently delighted fans by confirming that it will not be hiking its prices before Christmas.
