GREGGS’ festive bake is a firm favourite among fans, with the chain rolling the treat out across shops over Christmas.
The release of Greggs‘ classic bake is often seen as a sign that the holidays are coming soon.

This year, a vegan version of the treat will also be available for customers to bag.
But fans were left disappointed this year after the chain announced the pastry favourite would arrive in stores later than expected.

What is Greggs’ festive bake?
The festive bake is loved by Greggs fans, who look forward to when the treat is available in stores.
The classic festive bake contains pieces of chicken, sage and onion stuffing and sweetcure bacon, smothered in a creamy sage & cranberry sauce and encased in crumb topped pastry.
It has 449 calories.
The vegan-friendly version is filled with Quorn pieces, sage and onion stuffing and a vegan bacon crumb, finished with a sage and cranberry sauce encased in puff pastry.
It has 453 calories.
Both will cost £1.60 – the same price as its chicken and steak bakes.
Why was Greggs’ festive bake delayed?
Greggs originally announced last month that it’s festive bake would be hitting branches on November 4.
But it announced soon after that the treats would not be available to buy until November 22.
It announced the postponement with a video on Twitter saying: “It’s the festive bake remix!”
It marked a delay of almost three weeks – sparking outrage from fans desperate to bag the snack.
Tongue-in-cheek comments included one customer who said: “I live for the festive bake.”
While another tweeted: “Cheers lads, you’ve ruined Christmas.”
Greggs didn’t offer an explanation for the hold up.
It just said it was in “true 2021 style”.
The delay came after months of staff and product shortages in the hospitality and retail sectors.
In August, McDonald’s announced it had run out of milkshakes in ALL of its UK restaurants as it struggled with supply chain issues.
While Nando’s had to shut 50 restaurants the same month because it had run out of chicken.
What else is on Greggs’ festive menu?
Festive bakes aren’t the only treat on Greggs’ seasonal menu.
Earlier this week it announced the “first phase” festive grub being released to shops including six seasonal items.
It includes:
- Pigs in blankets baguette: £3,20, 571 calories
- Christmas lunch soup: from £2, 159 calories
- Mince pies: one for 50p, six for £1.75, two packs for £3, 281 calories each
- Mint mocha: £1.95, 303 calories
- Mint hot chocolate: £1.95, 288 calories
- Salted caramel latte: £1.95, 223 calories
It hasn’t released details of the second phase – but we’ve asked for more information on what snacks will be launched at a later date and when.
