GOOGLE Chrome is taking the fight against password hackers to the next level with a new feature that will start popping up on smartphones.
Handsets with the popular web browser installed will now receive an important alert if their password has been compromised.
Details are checked against known data breaches, so it’s not something you want to ignore.
Google has done this for quite some time with Chrome on computers, but this is the first time we’ve seen it on mobile.
The firm’s Google Assistant will take care of matters for you, suggesting a new password and keeping it safe.
Google Assistant is getting a lot smarter these days thanks to new tech that allows it to take on dull life tasks, such as ringing a restaurant for you to make a reservation.
The new feature was first spotted by Max Weinbach, who shared it on Twitter.
Google first revealed the new option last year.
Ironically, it has come to light just as World Password Day lands, on May 5.
The event is designed to promote the importance of strong passwords.

Weak passwords are one of the easiest ways hackers can gain access to your accounts, committing fraud and stealing hard earned cash.
“Passwords – while designed to give you access to online worlds while protecting your information – are often at the forefront of cyberattacks,” warned Karim Toubba, boss of password manager LastPass.
“And while time and again we find that consumers and businesses are not taking the appropriate steps to safeguard their passwords, it is more important than ever for everyone to take their online security more seriously.”
New research by TalkTalk shows that 43 per cent of Brits use personal information such as birthdays, family or pet names when setting passwords.
And more than a quarter of Brits have just one password, or a variation of one password, that they use for all online profiles.
