GOOGLE is reportedly planning a brand new budget TV streaming device to rival Amazon’s Fire TV Stick.

The tech giant has made popular Chromecast dongles since 2013 – and the last time we saw a 4K one was in 2020.

But it looks like a new one could be on the horizon.

And fans are hoping it’ll address one issue in particular – storage.

The 2020 4K model only had 8GB of storage, which many have complained is not enough.

“My priority is more storage. 8GB is a joke!” one frustrated user wrote on Reddit.

“It lags bad man,” another person said.

“Always did but in 2024 it’s horrible.

“The paltry CPU and lousy 8GB storage are also ridiculous for this era of streamers.

“It’s well past time for an updated model, and looks like we’re finally getting one.”

A source told 9to5Google that the new 4K Chromecast with Google TV will come alongside a brand new remote too.

But Google is remaining tight-lipped on any new device for now.

The firm holds its annual Google I/O event next month which is usually the moment for lots of shiny developments on the software side.

Google is known for pulling out surprises, so Chromecast could be among the announcements.
