  • Best Buy Totaltech membership – sign up for $199.99/year

Ultimately, just like GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards Pro, Best Buy Totaltech offers ‘exclusive access’ to ‘popular hard-to-find products’.

And what could be harder to find than the PS5 and Xbox Series X?

Best Buy Totaltech is priced at $199.99 for a yearly membership, which is pretty steep, but here’s what that’ll get you:

  • Free Geek Squad tech support, available 24/7/365 on all the technology in your home, no matter where you bought it.
  • Totaltech Expert Access, a VIP service with access to dedicated phone and chat teams.
  • Up to 24 months of product protection on most Best Buy purchases during active membership, including AppleCare+ on Apple products.
  • Free delivery and standard installation.
  • Exclusive Totaltech member prices.
  • 20% off labor for repairs and advanced services and 10% off labor for custom installations.
  • Extended 60-day return and exchange window on most products.
  • Free haul-away on most product replacements.

It’s a lot to ask for exclusive or early access to next-gen console restocks.

But if the list of other perks appeals to you, or you’re simply getting desperate for a PS5 or Xbox Series X, you might want to splurge.

It’s better than paying over the odds to scalpers at least, and you have the peace of mind of dealing with an actual retailer.

By comparison, GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro is priced at $14.99/year but is geared around exclusive access to tech products.

The chain’s offering isn’t as comprehensive, but it’s a much more reasonable price if all you’re after is an opportunity to buy a new console.

Either way, both retailers have got you covered this holiday season – you’ll just need to pay for the privilege of buying a PS5 or Xbox Series X.
