Here are some of the clubs worth joining . . .

PIZZA EXPRESS: Join the PizzaExpress Club to get free dough balls on your first visit.

Each time you dine in, or order for collection, you earn stamps that will unlock different tiers of membership.

As a bronze member you get a free side dish every time you order, as a silver member you bag free dough balls, a free soft drink and a free tea or coffee on each visit.

And gold members get a free upgrade to a Romana base with each visit, plus a free kids’ piccolo meal Monday to Thursday.

NANDO’S: As a Nando’s Rewards member you usually collect chilli stamps each time you spend £7 or more with the chain, then a free reward each time you bank three, six and ten chillies.

Rewards are more generous as you move up the levels.

For example, you can choose from a free quarter chicken after three chillies and then a whole chicken after ten chillies.

Until Sunday, members get two chillies after a £7 spend, instead of the usual one.

ZIZZI: Get one free garlic bread after signing up to the Zillionaires’ Club and then earn Zs on visits, which can be used to get free food and drink.

And after every fourth visit you’ll be entitled to a free surprise.

All members can currently get 25 per cent off food until November 30.

OPENTABLE: If you have the option, it’s worth making a restaurant reservation through opentable.co.uk and joining the site’s loyalty programme.

Each booking translates into points that can be traded in for an Amazon gift card.

The amount of points you earn varies by restaurant, but you’ll get at least 100 for each booking.

You need 2,000 points to get an £8 gift card.
