THE world of salt and vinegar is getting shaken up — as you can now spray them both on your fish and chips.
A time-saving innovation mixes the two condiments to end the trouble of pouring out salt then splashing vinegar from a bottle.
Saxa is also launching a handy salt-only spray which delivers a “fine mist” of absorbent seasoning over your grub — said to help monitor intake.
Its “Sea Salt” is for cooking and everyday meals while the Salt & Vinegar version is aimed at fish and chip lovers.
Each “spritz” represents roughly one per cent of an adult’s recommended daily intake. Five are said to be the same as a pinch of salt.
It comes as research revealed two-thirds of Brits eat too much salt.
Cooking oil sprays are now a common sight in shops to encourage healthier quantities.
But Saxa claims these are the first products of their kind in the UK.
Helen Touchais, of parent firm Premier Foods, said: “The spray pump has been carefully designed to deliver a fine mist of the salt solution, which falls evenly over food and is easily absorbed too. So you don’t have to worry about salt granules falling off your chips.”
The 100ml sprays go on sale in Waitrose from Monday and Sainsbury’s the week after.
