It said the decision will leave it with around 50 other standalone and outlet stores.

Gap said it is continuing to assess its portfolio as part of a strategic review it started last year.

The retailer hasn’t confirmed the full list of shops that will be closing, but we have asked for more information and we will update this article as soon as we know more.

A spokeswoman for Gap said: “We are proposing to close 19 Gap stores in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland that have leases ending at the end of July 2021.

“These leases are not being extended due to the strategic review that we have under way.”

The store closures follow from news last year that Gap was considering closing ALL 70 shops in the UK, as well as 59 others across Europe.

It said it wanted to operate in Europe through “partnerships” instead.
