Rises, spurred on by inflation and a cost of living crisis, mean that the cost of a weekly supermarket shop could jump by as much as £180 a year for many shoppers.

There are ways shoppers can combat the costs, from yellow sticker bargains to schemes and grants that offer the most hard-up a helping hand.

Some shoppers even change up where they shop to go the extra mile and claim the cheapest prices – like one mum who ditched the supermarket altogether in favour of their local wholesaler.

But you can find some of the best deals in plain sight.

You can shop around and see what each supermarket is promoting from month to month, and splash your spends wisely on the cheapest offers.

We’ve done most of the hard work for you – here are all the discounts codes and offers that you can cash-in on at your favourite supermarkets this month and beyond.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s has slashed the price of hundreds of products online and in-store.

The supermarket has reduced everything from steak, to fish, fruit and more, by up to 34%.

For example, Sainsbury’s Scotch ribeye steak is only £4.50 right now, which is down £1, from £5.50.

It’s part of price matches with rival Aldi, and price lock guarantees that mean the cost of most everyday essentials won’t go up for eight weeks.

Specifically for March though, Sainsbury’s is also offering £15 off a £60 online shop, with the code: SCSEO22MA15.

It’s only valid for first orders though, and you have to have your groceries delivered on or before March 31 before the discount runs out.

When you complete the online shop though, remember there will be at least a £1 delivery charge you’ll have to fork out for too.

Tesco

Tesco’s handy Clubcard scheme is how shoppers can access the best discounts at the supermarket.

The loyalty card is free to sign up for, but aside from yellow sticker bargains, it’s the only way to get food and more reduced at the supermarket.

Shoppers can get Warburtons crumpets, for example, for just 75p, when they are usually 95p to buy.

That’s a discount of almost 20%, but it only lasts until March 8 so there’s just a week to claim.

It’s not only food on offer either, as shoppers can pick up Glade candles at a fraction of a price thanks to the Clubcard too.

The 250g Glade aromatherapy candle was £9, but a third has been slashed off until March 8 as well, making the home decoration now just £6 to buy.

You can typically pick up the Clubcard prices in-store and online, but if you are shopping online remember you’ll face an extra £4.50 for delivery costs, or £1.50 if you opt for click and collect instead.

Iceland

Iceland is currently offering £5 off orders that tot up to at least £45 online.

To claim, you have to make sure your basket meets the minimum spend requirement before you then apply the code “ICEFIVEOFF”.

The catch is it’s only available for new customers though, so you’ll only be able to knock off a fiver if this is your first time shopping with Iceland.

Loyal customers don’t have to miss out though, the frozen supermarket has launched a site-wide multibuy event too.

You can buy four large Easter eggs for £10, for example – the festive chocolate treats are usually £4 each to buy, but bought in bulk shoppers can save £6 overall.

You can only claim the multibuy savings online but there’s no code you have to enter to redeem – just make sure you have enough of each product in your basket that qualifies it for the saving.

You can get your shopping delivered for free once your shopping hits the £40 minimum spend mark.

Asda

At the moment at Asda, shoppers can benefit from 25% off selected Extra Special wines.

The automatically applied discount means something like Asda’s 75cl Extra Special prosecco is only £6, down from £8 originally.

You have to place your order before 11.59pm on March 23 to cash-in though.

After that, wine prices will shoot back up to full price.

Delivery starts from £2 at Asda though, so keep this in mind when you’re loading up your cart.

Aldi

Every two weeks Aldi carefully selects six products to feature in its Super Six offer.

Currently, you can buy an assortment of fruit from just 59p in the deal.

A five pack of Nature’s Pick oranges was £1.09, but now 50p has been slashed off the price making it just 59p in the biweekly offer.

As the deal is refreshed every two weeks shoppers only have until March 10 to claim these discounted prices, as they began on February 24.

This one you can claim in-store though, or via click and collect with an additional charge of £4.99, but you can’t have the discounted products delivered to your door as Aldi doesn’t offer the service.

Morrisons

Shoppers can get £5 off an online shop at Morrisons with a discount code – but they have to be quick as the code expires on March 6.

You can use the code “VOU7848920” to claim the money off your virtual basket but you only have until Sunday to do so.

The code launched on Monday but another catch shoppers have to watch out for is that they’ll have to make sure their basket adds up to at least £40 for the code to work.

You’ll have to factor in the additional charge for delivery too which can start from around £2.
