THE biggest shopping date in the UK calendar is swiftly approaching.

Whether you’re browsing for bargains or waiting for a major price drop, most shoppers can hardly resist a good Black Friday deal.

However, quite a few retailers decided not to take part in the mega-sale event.

Some brands choose to offer their own specific sales throughout the year for their customers instead and many budget stores try to keep prices low anyway.

Here’s a list of all the retailers not taking part in Black Friday this year:

Next

Next hasn’t confirmed they will be having a Black Friday sale this year but there are no promotions advertised on its website so far.

The retailer didn’t host a Black Friday sale last year either, in fact, the super chain hasn’t participated in Black Friday for the past four years.

But there are a few Next sales you should look out for if you want to get a good deal.

Like many clothing retailers, the brand launches a summer sale around July.

In September they usually launch an autumn sale, you should look out for winter deals just after Christmas too.

B&M

B&M has also confirmed they will not be hosting a Black Friday sale again this year.

A spokesperson said: “B&M are an everyday low-priced retailer that focuses on selling products for the best prices all year round. So we don’t have a Black Friday promotions sale.”

And of course, you can use the B&M barcode scanner app all year round to find great bargains.

The tool lets you see if the item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop shelf.

Some shoppers have claimed by using the scanner they have seen prices go down to just pennies.

Home Bargains

Due to being a discount store all year round Home Bargains does not put on special sales.

It hasn’t participated in Black Friday or Cyber Monday in the past either.

The retailer is however offering a range of affordable winter essentials and Christmas items.

You can get deals at Home Bargains throughout the year. Food is usually reduced early in the morning from 8-9am.

Price tag codes reveal how long an item is in stock for and you should look out for Star Buys which are a bit like Aldi’s Specialbuys,

TK Maxx

TK Maxx is known for selling designer goods at discounted rates.

It hasn’t taken part in the annual Black Friday event for the past three years.

A spokesperson confirmed there would be no Black Friday event at TK Maxx this year but said: “You can find anything from stylish womenswear to big brand gifting at TK Maxx at up to 60% less, 365 days a year!”

The best days to shop in TK Maxx are Tuesdays and Thursdays as that’s when most stores get deliveries.

Generally, the deeper you go into the store the better the bargains you’ll find.

M&S

Marks and Spencer also doesn’t have any Black Friday offers listed on its website and didn’t take part last year either.

The posh retailer told The Sun: “Whilst we don’t participate in Black Friday, we have a selection of unmissable offers in-store and online.”

M&S customers can sign up for a Sparks card where they unlock offers and treats.

You can collect points for both the clothes and food you purchase.

Ikea

Similar to their campaign last year Ikea is going for a greener Black Friday this year.

It is offering an extra 25% offer on Buyback and you can get up to 50% off on pre-loved Ikea furniture.

A spokesperson confirmed: “Ikea is bringing back its Green Friday promotion to encourage sustainable and affordable shopping from now until 3rd December.”

Anyone can join Ikea’s loyalty scheme for free. Not only is it free to join, but with Ikea’s loyalty card you can get freebies and extra discounts.

Primark

Primark does not hold major sales like Black Friday deals either, due to prices being low anyway.

There is nothing listed on the Primark website. However, there may still be a chance to get good deals in an in-store-only flash sale.

It’s worth having a quick browse if you’ve got time on the day to see if anything picks your fancy.

Last year Poundland decided not to host a Black Friday sale.

But it looks like in an effort to push sales the retailer has opted in this year.
