US fried chicken giant Popeyes has revealed their brand new restaurant locations.
Popeyes launched in the UK last year with the first store opening in Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.
In March 2021, Popeye stated it planned to open 350 UK restaurants over the next 10 years.
The company is owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI) which also owns Burger King.
Popeyes has opened takeaway-only kitchens in various London districts, including Bermondsey, Maida Vale and Whitechapel
The chicken chain has just opened a new sit-down restaurant in Chelmsford.
And there are more locations to follow if you want a taste of its chicken – which we tried, and think is better than KFC.
The new stores locations are:
- Reading
- Gateshead
- Oxford
- Nottingham
- Ealing
- Brighton
- Romford
The new location in Romford, Essex, is opening in July.

The company is expected to create 600 jobs across the six sites.
Tom Crowley, Popeyes boss in the UK, said the company expects to open further locations soon.
He said: “It’s such an exciting time for the brand, and we have even bigger plans in the works; we’re dedicating a lot of focus currently to our rollout of drive-throughs alongside our strong pipeline of sit-down restaurants.”
It’s expected they’ll create thousands more in the next decade as they plan to open more sites in shopping malls, high streets and drive thru locations.
Popeyes first opened in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972 and has 350 branches in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The company has 3,400 restaurants in 25 countries.
Diners will be able to try their traditional menu items which include its famous chicken sandwich and original Southern biscuits and gravy.
Popeyes isn’t the only American chain to begin opening in the UK.
Wendy’s, the third largest burger chain in the world after McDonald’s and Burger King, opened a new branch last year.
Wendy’s closed its last British restaurant in 1999 but returned last year when it opened a branch in Reading.
The brand is famous for its square burgers.
