FOOD chain Greggs has dozens of outlet stores helping bargain hunters get their pastry fixes for less.

In December 2022, Greggs opened its 30th store and revealed plans to open 20 more – and it’s now well on its way to do so.

Since then, the bakery chain has opened five new Outlet shops.

The Outlet shops were originally opened to support socially deprived areas, offering them cheaper food as well as being sustainable by offering unsold items.

You can pick up fan favourites like sausage rolls and steak bakes for up to 75% less than what you would pay at a normal Greggs.

Food is sent to these stores if the chain’s nearby factories have made too many batches, normal priced stores have been unable to sell all their stock, or if items are misshapen.

It means treats are sold at a discount – and customers lucky enough to live near one come in droves.

By 2025, Greggs hopes to have opened another 20 stores, taking the total count to 50 across the UK.

Greggs Outlet stores are predominantly located in the North and Midlands, including Newcastle, Birmingham and Glasgow.

In September 2022, The Sun visited one of Greggs’ Outlet stores.

This Newcastle outlet was the first ever store of its kind set up by the bakery giant back in 1972, and it’s loved by local Geordies for its cheap prices.

The best deal we spotted at the time was on hot and cold sandwiches, which both cost £2.60 less than at normal stores.

While hot sandwiches, which can usually cost £3.95, were priced at £1.35.

Of course, these could now be different and prices will vary from store-to-store and depending on the product.

In January 2024, Greggs revealed plans to open 160 new branches in the next year.

The chain is also set to continue rolling out evening opening hours across specific stores.

And just last week, Greggs fans went wild as the bakery chain rolled out “unreal” burgers and wraps.
