Full list of Freeview channel launches and closures in March including the ‘sad’ end of a free sports station

THERE are a number of channel launches and closures happening on Freeview throughout March.

Unfortunately, two channels are set to leave the service very soon.

But it’s not all bad news as there are some brand new stations to fill their space.

Keep up to date on the latest Freeview changes so you don’t miss your favourite shows.

Especially as channel numbers sometimes move around and you may need to retune your box.

Here’s the full list of movers and shakers on Freeview for March.

FREEVIEW CHANNEL LAUNCHES

One new channel is launching on Freeview this month.

The station is called GREAT! Real, which will focus on real life programmes.

Its schedule will include shows like Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport, Paddington Station 24/7, Island Medics, Emergency Rescue: Air, Land and Sea; and Coast Guard Alaska.

FREEVIEW CHANNEL CLOSURES

Freeview waves goodbye to two channels in March.

Young kids station Tiny POP is going digital only, so it won’t be available as a traditional linear TV channel on platforms including Freeview – the move also affects viewers on Virgin Media, Sky and Freesat.

Fortunately, you can still access it for free via one of the following internet-based services – and if you have Freeview Play you can watch on demand with the POP Player on channel 212.

• Samsung TV Plus
• YouTube
• POP Player

The other channel disappearing this month is SportyStuff TV which fans have called “sad” and “another nail in the coffin”.

Bosses said “external circumstances beyond our control” has forced them to end the station after 12 years on-air.

FREEVIEW CHANNEL CHANGES

There’s only one noteworthy channel change on Freeview this month and that’s because of the launch of GREAT! Real.

GREAT! Real is due to land on Freeview number 61 which is currently occupied by GREAT! movies extra.

GREAT! movies extra is a streamed channel and it’s not clear where it’ll be moved on Freeview yet or whether it’ll be removed completely as a result.
