GOOD friends make everything better – and they can help make big savings, too.

Today is International Day of Friendship and a chance to celebrate your best mates.

To mark the occasion, there are mates’ rates deals everywhere. Here’s how to get a little extra for you both . . .

RAISE A TOAST: If you’re celebrating today with a few drinks, visit andsoda.co.uk for 50 per cent off its range of canned vodka soda drinks. Enter the discount code MATESRATES&SODA50 at the checkout. That makes 12 cans just £14, (plus delivery).

PHONE A FRIEND: Got a pal who’s looking for a new phone? Head to mobiles.co.uk, select a mobile and share it with them via email or social media. You could earn a fiver if they buy it or up to £50 if they upgrade their handset on a contract.

Or, go to giffgaff.com/spread to learn about how you can earn £5 for every friend you refer — plus your mates will earn £5 in credit, too.

WATCH WITH MATES: Are you with Sky? Go to secure.sky.com/introduce-a-friend and you could both earn a Prepaid £75 Mastercard when they join Sky TV. Virgin Media will offer you £50 cashback if you introduce a mate, too.

GROUP TRAVEL: When it comes to train journeys, going with your friends can slash the cost. Scotrail.co.uk has a Friend Fare that entitles you to savings when you travel as a group of three or four. National Rail has the same and you can make savings of up to a third if more than two of you travel together.

DINE TOGETHER: If your friend is not signed up to Deliveroo or Uber Eats yet, check your account for a referral code that you can share and you’ll get a discount off your bill.

Another way to share the cost of lunch on the go is to get a Tesco meal deal. But pick up the Grab Bag of crisps to share and the triple sarnies and use your reusable cup to split the drink — that’s £3 between two and a saving of £1.50.
