About 700 people moved from Calais camp where thousands have sought to cross Channel

French police have dismantled a migrant camp in the northern port of Calais from where thousands of people have sought to cross the Channel to reach British shores.

A police source told Reuters the operation began shortly before sunrise on Tuesday. The makeshift camp was home to about 700 migrants.
