Last month Netflix hiked prices for selected plans, on top of its crackdown on multiple household accounts.

But there are ways to keep costs down . . .
SWITCH CHANNEL: In most cases, a single TV streaming service has enough films and shows to keep us satisfied, and sticking to just one outlet is the best way to save.
But we’re often drawn to different platforms by exclusive shows.
If you’re signing up for only one particular series it makes sense to cancel the subscription after you’ve watched it.

Sites often don’t have exit fees so it’s easy to chop and change depending on what you want on the box.
FREEBIES: You can access hundreds of films and box-sets via free streaming services such as All 4, ITVX, UKTV Play and My5.
The proviso is that you’ll usually need to sit through ads, but the savings tend to make it worthwhile.
BBC iPlayer is also free if you already pay for a TV licence — though you can’t watch it without one.

If you don’t mind a few commercial breaks and want Netflix, consider its standard plan with ads.

TRIAL BLAZER: Use free trials to cut costs.
For example, a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime Video is worth doing if you are just signing up to watch a particular show.
You can also get free seven-day trials of Now Entertainment and Now Cinema.
Set a reminder to cancel before the end of the promo period so you don’t end up with an unwanted subscription.
BUDDY UP: Netflix standard and premium account plans allow for users to be added outside the household for an extra £4.99 a month.
You could save by doing this with a friend and splitting costs.
