ROBERT Dyas has a huge range of products so how do you narrow it down when it comes to getting the best deal?

The retailer stocks everything from housewares to gardening products and offers big discounts when it comes to sale time.

They have 94 stores and are mainly based in the south east of England, but if you are elsewhere in the country that doesn’t mean you have to miss out.

The retailer also has a website where you can browse hundreds of products and special offers.

At the moment on the website, there is a “massive” summer sale, with savings of up to 60% to be had.

We had a look to see what is worth picking up from Robert Dyas and what could be left on the shelf.

Things to buy

As we previously mentioned the big summer sale is in full swing on the website, so just because they are cheaper than other retailers at the moment, it does not mean that is always the case.

It is always worth doing your own research and shopping around to make sure you are getting the cheapest deal.

You can compare the cost of similar products from other retailers using price comparison tools like Google Shopping.

The retailer has some excellent offers and a good selection of products when it comes to the garden.

Garden items

At the moment you can get £130 off a “fantastic” wooden garden bar that is perfect if you are looking to party in your garden this summer.

The Mercia pressure-treated garden bar usually retails for £429 but you can currently get one for £299.

Customers love this product and it looks to be the best value one around in terms of price and quality.

One customer said: “Fantastic bar for the price – we love it!”

And another added: “This bar is an awesome addition to anyone’s garden! The price is unbeatable.”

Also worth a look is the Monaco 3×3 metre pop-up gazebo currently down from £ 230 to £90 – a discount of 65%.

One customer who had bought this item said: “Great product, sturdy, easy to assemble and waterproof.. perfect!”

If garden accessories are not your thing, you can still pick up some excellent deals.

Because the retailer holds such a large range of products, it is quite suited to most budgets.

Electrical goods

We found the prices of electrical goods very competitive at the moment.

You can get a Russell Hobbs 1.7 cordless kettle for £37 down from £44 in the online sale.

The kettle has a 4.5-star customer review and has been described by one customer as being “good quality at a good price”.

Argos has the same kettle on their website at £40, which is slightly more expensive than the Robert Dyas price.

There is also a good deal to be had on the Daewoo 5.5l family air fryer reduced down from £119 to £49, giving a saving of £70.

If you were to buy this air fryer at the moment from B&Q it would cost you £69.

What to shop around for

Even with discounts as big as this, it is still worth looking to see what other retailers are doing, as not everything was cheaper.

Cookware

We spotted a Jamie Oliver stainless steel frying pan in the Robert Dyas sale down from £29 to £19.

However, we managed to find the same item for a few pounds cheaper at Argos.

It had a half-price offer on the frying pan, and it was reduced to just £15.

Power tools

It might also be worth checking other retailers when it comes to DIY tools.

A Black and Decker 18V combi drill on the Robert Dyas website is priced at £59 down from £89.

We found this item slightly cheaper in B&Q priced at £53.

We did this exercise with some other retailers and found three items to always buy at B&Q and two to avoid.

And we also checked out Homebase and found two items that you should always buy.
