CHEAP cuts of meat aren’t just easy on your wallet – they can taste great too.
With a bit of time and a few clever tips, you can turn the most economical options into delicious family meals.

SLOWLY DOES IT: Slow cookers aren’t just for hearty winter stews.
For spring and summer, try lip-smacking pulled pork served in floury rolls with ’slaw on the side.
Use a shoulder of pork and cook on low for the day with the right mix of stock and spices.
To keep it simple use a Schwartz slow cooker BBQ pulled pork mix, 99p at Morrisons.
The store has a pork shoulder joint for £4.25, or buy as part of a three-for-£10 deal.
EASY FRIED CHICKEN: For a much quicker meal, grab your air fryer (or use your oven) and a pack of chicken drumsticks (Sainsbury’s has a 2kg pack for £3.70 — just freeze what you don’t need).
Marinate the chicken for an hour in your choice of sauce before cooking.

SILKY STIR-FRIES: There’s a secret tip to make cheap beef strips taste as good as you get from a Chinese takeaway.
Sprinkle three-quarters of a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda on 250g of beef strips.
Toss and leave for half an hour before rinsing.
You can then use the beef as you would in a normal stir-fry, but it will have a much more tender texture.
Aldi has 350g lean stir-fry beef for £3.99.
MORE MINCE FOR YOUR MONEY: Using minced beef or lamb to make dishes like chilli con carne or shepherd’s pie already adds up to a great-value meal.
But you can make the meat go even further by adding a tin of cheap lentils.
That way you’ll be packing in more goodness as well as making a bigger meal.
Once the mince and lentils are disguised in a tasty sauce, not even the fussiest members of the family will notice.
