A MOULDY home can lead to all sorts of issues, but you can banish it quickly and easily by spreading plants across the home.

The fungi can crop up even more over the winter months as households close windows, allowing condensation to spread.

Let it get too bad and you might end up with suffering from a number of ailments and health issues.

Luckily, you can banish it by buying flora which absorbs the excess moisture.

There are four types you’ll want to look out for that will do the job best: Peace Lilies, English Ivy, Aloe Vera and Boston Fern.

You can find them at most retailers, but we checked out B&Q and Dunelm’s websites to see how much they are selling the four plants for.

Prices start from just £6.50 – here’s what we found.

English Ivy

B&Q is selling a Hedera Helix English Ivy which comes in a 13cm pot for just £27.

Shoppers can order from the comfort of their sofa and have it delivered within three to six working days for free too.

You won’t be able to click and collect though as it’s only available off the retailer’s website.

Bear in mind, this type of plant won’t suit anyone with a dog, cat or other pet as it is toxic.

Aloe Vera

B&Q is also selling an Aloe Vera plant in a 12cm pot for just £6.50 and shoppers can get it in store as well as online.

It does come with a £6 delivery fee though so bear that in mind if you want it brought to your door.

B&Q’s website says it needs minimal watering during the colder months so it’s ideal if you’ve got hectic schedule.

One five star reviewer said they bought theirs a year ago and it is “still going strong”.

Peace lily

Dunelm has a potted Peace Lily on sale for £25 on its website for any shoppers looking to banish mould from their home.

Customers looking to snap one up can get it delivered on or before November 6 if ordering today, for a £3.95 charge.

You won’t be able to click and collect the fauna though.

It comes in four colours including pink and navy, but you’ll want to steer clear if you’ve got dogs or cats as it is toxic.

If the £25 price point is too much for your budget, you could head to Homebase instead – the retailer is selling one for just £5.50.

Boston Fern

Dunelm also has a Boston Fern selling on its website for £22 and shoppers can snap it up in five different colours including mint, navy and pink.

Again, standard delivery will set you back £3.95 while the item isn’t available for click and collect.

One major perk of the Boston Fern is that it’s suitable for pet owners and families with small children.

The pot is made from recycled plastic too so you’ll be helping the planet in more ways than one snapping it up.

It’s not just plants you can use to banish mould from your home.

A cleaning expert previously revealed how you can use white vinegar, on sale on Asda’s website for just £1.30.

The acetic acid in the liquid makes it perfect for killing mould – but make sure you buy one with five to six per cent of the acid inside.

Alternatively, you can just opt for anti-fungal spray too, or if you’re looking to stop mould in your bathroom you could try adhesive sealant.
