CHILLY mornings are the perfect times to tuck in to a bowl of porridge.
Whatever topping you choose, it is a breakfast that is cheap, filling and full of goodness.
Try these ideas to stir up an even greater start to your day.
CLEVER CUPS: Michael Chakraverty, who was a hit in The Great British Bake Off in 2019, has been working with oat brand Quaker to celebrate the power of porridge.
Michael reckons getting the right balance of liquid and oats is key.
“Pour the oats into your favourite mug to measure the right quantity.
“Then all you need to do is add two mugs of milk, or water, to every one mug of oats.”
He’s also a fan of soaking oats overnight before tipping the whole mixture into a pan in the morning, and stirring until you get to the right thickness.
TRY TOASTING: Michael says that simply toasting your oats in a saucepan until they’re fragrant before making your porridge as normal will take your breakfast to the next level.
“This provides a smoky warmth to your porridge which is perfect for the autumn.”
