But you can beat lunchtime costs by making your own fakeaways for the week.

ROLL WITH IT: A Greggs sausage roll is up from £1.05 to £1.20 in most shops nationwide.

Instead, head to Iceland to pick up a new jumbo pack of eight Greggs sausage rolls for £6. That’s 75p per roll.

SUB THE COST: A turkey 6in sub will set you back around £3-£5 at Subway.

Instead, you can pick up a four-pack of Village Bakery cheese and herb Metro rolls for £1.29, a pack of turkey slices, £1.69 and cheese slices, £1.39, all at Aldi.

That’s £4.37 for four rolls for just over £1.09 each.

POT LUCK: Warm up on cold days with a chicken and mushroom Pot Noodle, now £1.20 at Asda.

Or try the new Asda Just Essentials chicken and mushroom Cup Noodles for 50p. That’s a week’s worth for £2.50.

BAG A BARGAIN: At Pret A Manger, the tuna mayo baguette will now set you back around £5.

Instead, get two double packs of Morrisons part-baked white baguettes for £1.09 each (£2.18) add four tins of tuna for £3.20, squeezy mayo for £1.25 and a cucumber for 79p.

That’s £7.42 for four baguettes instead of around £20 at Pret A Manger, and you’ll have the extra tins of tuna for weeknight meals.

WRAP STAR: Leon’s fish finger wraps are delicious, but pricey at around £7.

Go to Sainsbury’s and pick up their Greek-style flatbreads for £1.75, a pack of Lidl £1.89 fish fingers, Sainsbury’s tartare sauce, 93p and a jar of sliced gherkins for £1.35.

Make four wraps for the week for £5.92, which is a steal compared to Leon’s more-expensive option.
